MEET THE BOARD
Andrea Tuell
President
Andrea had a dream to begin Raising Angels Foundation (RAF) in order to help babies who, without support for their young parents, may not have some of the essential needs a baby's little life should have in the critical first years. She has a degree in liberal arts with an emphasis in speech communication from Colorado State University. Andrea sells real estate in Northern Colorado and believes in serving the community in ways that are not yet being met. While pregnant in 2021, Andrea's desire to create something for young families grew even more when she knew firsthand how hard, amazing, and expensive having a baby can be. Andrea comes from a family that has taught her to always give back to the community. With the encouragement from her philanthropic parents and the support of her husband Guy, Raising Angels Foundation was born! Andrea is excited to watch Raising Angels grow, impact and help the young lives of teen parents and their babies.
Kristin Haws
Treasurer
Kristin Haws became a part of Raising Angels as a way to give back to her community. As a stay-at-home mother of 2, she realizes how truly blessed she is, and that not everyone has been given or has the same opportunities. Kristin joins the board having a degree in Human Development and Family Studies, a Women’s Studies Certificate, and almost 20 years experience in various roles of business development and management for education and toy companies. She is excited and feels privileged to be a part of such a great organization, that fulfills an otherwise lacking need in her community.
Melissa Schaefer
Melissa is a passionate advocate for young parents, especially those in Northern Colorado where she has firsthand experience and has called home for the past 22 years. Melissa’s initial exposure to the needs of young parents began while she was in high school which moved her to pursue a career in education. Moving from the North Denver Metro to Fort Collins to pursue this higher education, Melissa graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and went on to obtain a Post-Bachelor’s degree in Education. From there, Melissa continued to follow her enthusiasm for young parents and became the Program Coordinator and Teacher of a teen parent program in Northern Colorado. Through this program, she has supported young parents for the past 14 years, and in this role, she has seen the extraordinary challenges young parents and their children face along their journey. Melissa is inspired by her students’ strength and loves connecting them to resources as they work towards self-sufficiency. Raising Angels Foundation (RAF) started to fulfill the needs seen through these experiences, and Melissa, Andrea, and Kristin are so excited to see all that RAF can be in the community!
